READ MORE ABOUT OUR TEAM BELOW:

Last year, the Flaming Fries joined the world of Destination Imagination (DI).  The team applied its creativity and problem-solving skills to a multitude of challenges, both big and small and, in a rare accomplishment for a first-year team, the Flaming Fries won first place at the New  York Destination Imagination State Finals and advanced to the Global Finals in Tennessee May 20-23, 2015!  Our Fries were proud to represent Caroline, the Ithaca City School District, and New York State!

The Fries are back for a second year in their new home, DeWitt Middle School! The team chose to do the Service Learning Challenge, the Meme Event. They met with Svante Myrick, Mayor of Ithaca, and Dr.  Luvelle Brown, Superintendent of Ithaca City School District, to identify a problem in our community.  They decide to help keep our community active when the weather makes it difficult to exercise outside.  They worked with a community partner, Caroline Elementary’s PE teacher, Amy Seldin-Murphy, to come up with movement ideas.  The team then worked with local celebrities to create movement posters and movement videos.   They received a $500 Red & Gold Grant from IPEI to print 1000 movement posters and created more than 30 videos, running almost 90 minutes total.

  1. Mrs. Larkin’s 1st Grade Class @ Enfield is loving the videos. My students can’t wait for week 2’s videos to keep us active and get our wiggles out!

  2. Boy, we are glad it is Monday so we can do another movement break with the Flaming Fries! Thanks for the game of knee tag!

  3. I tried multiple posters with my students and they really liked them. Their favorites were the yoga and Hilby activities. We also enjoyed the tap dancing activity!
